EXPERIENCE

Christine Otieno Magambo is an accomplished counselling practitioner with an outstanding record of designing and implementing HIV/AIDS programme interventions at local and national levels.  She has over 25 years’ experience at the Kenyatta National Hospital being at the centre of facilitating extensive portfolio of leading strategic and complex HIV/AIDS and psychosocial programmes of national policy significance. She is at ease working with top levels of government and corporate structures, and at the community level with diverse partners. She is a facilitator par excellence with tailored approaches to different audiences at various levels.

Christine is technically grounded in the management of HIV/AIDS programmes having undertaken extensive professional trainings. These include, Adult ART Training; Home Based Care; Training of Trainers Course; Couple Voluntary Counseling and Testing; TOT in counseling supervision; Substance and Drug Abuse; Prevention of Mothers to Child Transmission; HIV Testing Services; Crisis Mental Health Assistance; and Health Education Coordination among others. This technical capacity is also backed by her degree of Bachelor of Social Science, Psychology from the University of Nairobi and Diploma in Community Nursing from Homa Bay Medical Training College. She has continued to utilize the acquired skills in facilitating counselling sessions especially for couples, youth and other vulnerable groups on matters of HIV/AIDS.

She is an excellent communicator with extensive experience of engaging local communities, international partners, policy makers, donor partners and health sector experts. She has led a number of health research studies providing critical thinking and analysis that contribute to policy and practice changes, and has hands-on experience in building and managing partnerships and facilitating multi-stakeholder dialogues with Ministry of Health, NASCOP and other government development agencies, private sector and local communities.
